Fermented Honey

Fermented honey is a unique, edible honey caused by a naturally occurring process that can happen to any raw honey. Raw honey is unheated, which preserves the naturally occurring pollen, enzymes, and yeasts and many claim raw honey offer increased health benefits to heated honey.

Fermented honey is unique because it has a higher moisture content than most honey, which allows the yeasts and enzymes to start the fermentation process. Our honey has a much lower moisture content than mead, so it is not alcoholic, but it does change the look and taste of the honey. Some claim this fermentation process increases the benefits of honey while others prefer the taste of non-fermented honey.
